Feast – Christmas

Feast – this automatically reminds me of Christmas. That big feast that gets prepared by so many families all around the world. Whether you have a reason to celebrate Christmas or not, I am pretty sure most people get excited by the season. The cold winter nights, the amazing coffee’s that all the coffee shops sell, the Christmas tunes playing away in every store and the hub bub that spreads all around.

Then finally the big day comes; Christmas morning, where young children get excited to open the presents, where families get together and be merry and where everyone is genuinely in a fantastic mood. As the aroma of carrots and parsnips, roast potatoes and turkey fill in the kitchen and filter through to the living room, everyone’s sense of smell heightens. That huge feast being prepared is almost ready. Where soon you can tuck into the Yorkshire puddings and pour gravy (and some extra gravy) all over the vegetables and turkey.

That one particular day that you have been waiting for all year round finally has come and before your eyes is this huge feast laid upon the table. Where you’re etching to just dig into the first thing in front of you, you politely wait for everyone to be seated. Then you begin to fill your plate and pass the food around to everyone and finally it is all there; that big feast! Ready to be indulged into. Once everyone is ready and the Christmas crackers have been popped opened and everyone is wearing the silly but has to be worn paper hats you finally dig your fork in. As you cut away bits of food to fit onto one fork and take that first mouthful with gravy dripping away, you are filled with your hearts content of that big feast you have been waiting for so eagerly for such a long time.

Christmas is still half a year away but I know for sure I cannot wait!
